Reward and benefits

At The Co‑operative Bank, we offer more than flexible working options and a competitive salary and bonus. Our deep-rooted values mean putting colleagues' wellbeing first and ensuring a work-life balance that works for both you and the organisation.

This diverse and competitive package, shaped by our values and ethics, is designed to help us attract, develop, recognise, reward and retain talented colleagues to support our organisation together, for the future.

Our ways of working

At the Bank, we know that people thrive in different ways. And we believe that work should be able to flex to support our personal lives, not the other way around. That's why we're proud to champion a variety of working arrangements, all from day one.

Every role is different, and depending on the business area and its needs, there may be specific expectations around how and where you work. You'll find all the details in the job advert, which outlines the working approach for the role.

What we offer

Take a quick look at the benefits of joining us.

The essentials

Pay

Pay

We're serious about fairness. Everyone gets a competitive salary and an annual pay review. We're also a Real Living Wage Foundation employer, ensuring everyone's pay keeps up with the cost of living.

Bonus

Bonus

As a mutual, we believe our success comes from working together so everyone is rewarded with an equal percentage of their pay as a discretionary bonus when the Group performs well. Senior leaders also receive a bonus based on Group performance and meeting challenging individual goals aligned to the Group strategy.

Pensions and Health

Pensions and Health

We're committed to investing in your future. If you put 3% of your salary into our Group Personal Pension Scheme, the Group will match this with a 5% contribution. Put in 4% and we'll put in 8% and anything above 5% we'll add a 10% contribution. You'll also be covered by Life Assurance of six times your basic salary.

Holidays

Holidays

Wellbeing matters, so while we value hard work, time away is just as important. There's a minimum of 28 days' holiday (plus Bank Holidays) for everyone and this rises to 30 days after 2 years' service. Plus you have the option to buy up to 10 more days. And if you don't want to use all your holiday you can also sell five days.

Making a difference to you

The career you want

The career you want

Everyone is given the opportunity to reach their potential and create the best future for themselves. Our range of career programmes puts the support in place to help you grow into your role and realise your ambitions. We offer both coaching and mentoring to every colleague.

Always flexible

Always flexible

Around 75% of our roles are hybrid, split between the office and home. Others can't be done from home. For both types of role, we'll always consider options like part time, job share or flexible working patterns. Ask before you apply to see what the possibilities are.

Health and Wellbeing

Health and Wellbeing

We offer Private Medical Insurance to everyone from 5 years' service and you can apply for Group Income Protection if you are away from work long-term due to illness. We have an independent employee assistance programme to support you and your household, providing access to professional counselling, advice on health and financial assessments. We also run sessions with experts on all aspects of wellbeing including the menopause and men's health. And we have a network of certified Mental Health First Aiders.

Family First

Family First

We offer an extensive range of family - friendly benefits, including: childcare support allowance, carers' leave, enhanced maternity, paternity and shared parental leave, pregnancy loss and fertility support, and foster care training leave.

Community and Environment

Community and Environment

Being part of and supporting our communities is at the heart of what we do. We have a lot of local fundraising activities you can get involved in and you can donate to any charity through salary sacrifice so you don't pay tax on what you give.

Creating communities is equally important and we have several strong networks including women, LGBTQ+ and Asian. We are proud of our environmental commitment. So, as well as working to make all our locations net zero, we provide you with access to cycle to work and electric vehicle leasing salary sacrifice schemes.
