We are looking for a Head of Audit – Financial & Regulatory Reporting to provide independent and objective assurance to our Board, Executive and Senior Management team to help protect the assets, reputation and sustainability of the Bank. You will be a leading specialist in risk management and control for the Bank and the Audit Lead for Financial Reporting, Regulatory Reporting and Treasury Risk, being able to challenge and influence the Executive Team, Audit Committee, and other senior executives in their decisions around appropriate risk management, controls and processes in these areas.

 

Customer

You will be a specialist in building, maintaining and developing strategic relationships with key senior stakeholders, both within the Bank and externally. including partners to deliver the IA programme, which will require influencing across a large volume business area and specialist risk functions.

Working as a industry expert across the Internal Audit teams to ensure best practice Internal Audit processes and procedures are implemented.

 

People & Leadership

Have the ability to lead, coach, motivate and develop the Internal Audit team to ensure an effective working environment, foster employee commitment and deliver consistently high performance.

Provide subject matter expertise within the Internal Audit Team and the Bank on Financial Reporting, Regulatory Reporting (including SOX) and Treasury.

 

Financial / Commercials

Lead key audit programmes and perform audit/consultancy work on complex/sensitive areas of the organisation

As a key part of the Internal Audit Leadership Team, develop and maintain a sustainable, cost effective resourcing model meeting budget requirements e.g. effective use and management of co-source partners.

 

Risk & Process

Build trusted and credible relationships with the external Regulators so that they rely on IA opinions, including supporting Director of Internal Audit at Continuous Assessment meetings

Deliver high quality assurance in relation to specialist areas of expertise, including

Manage our risk by ensuring full adherence to methodology

What would we like you to have? 

 

Extensive experience within the Internal Audit field, implementing risk based internal audit standards, methodologies, codes of conduct and audit best practice.

Subject matter expertise relevant to appropriate area of the Bank ie Financial Reporting, Regulatory Reporting (including SOX) and Treasury

Understand and have experience of proactively anticipating and responding to the existing and emerging issues and expectations within the financial services industry, including Regulatory frameworks and expectations

Significant knowledge and experience of governance, internal control systems and their application in UK regulated, major financial services organisations.

Deep authority and experience  in auditing standards, principles, practices tools and techniques, including the development and implementation of ‘best practice’ audit strategies for a broad range of complex areas of the business.

Recognised relevant qualification (e.g. ACA / ACCA / MIIA)

Significant PQE

Substantial experience within audit and financial services organisations, over a broad range of areas.

Deep understanding of the financial services industry and the regulatory and legislative environment.

Excellent communication, relationship building and influencing skills, able to present effectively to a variety of audiences including at senior management, Executive and Board level.
