The Co-operative Bank and our talented Data & MI team have an exciting opportunity for a SAS Developer. As part of this role you will work as a key member of the team by leading the development of complex and/or large scale developments, ensuring that solution design is appropriate for the application using SAS.

We are looking for candidates with an analytical mind-set, attention to detail and experience, knowledge or exposure of SAS. We are open to internal colleagues with a data analysis background, who have experience/knowledge of SAS or have the aptitude to learn how to use it.

 

Purpose

 

The SAS Developer will be able to proactively identify, recommend and deliver a range of complex data & MI solutions, engage autonomously with other cross functional subject matter experts and display a high level of competence and in depth knowledge of the organisation’s systems and data. The level of contribution will depend on the scale of a particular project or task

 

What would we like you to have?

Extensive experience in delivering data and reporting solutions using the following SAS components:

Base SAS language 9.4 inc Macro Language

SAS Data Integration Studio 4.9

SAS Enterprise Guide 7.1

Knowledge of SAS Scalable Performance Data Server (SPDS).

Experience of working in a SAS Grid environment

Good working knowledge of the SAS Metadata environment

UNIX experience

Strong SQL knowledge and experience

Software development and some knowledge of the project lifecycle

Data Integration and reporting solution design

Microsoft Office experience

Knowledge of Cognos Report Studio / Query Studio / Analysis Studio preferable

Key Accountabilities:

 

Lead the development of simple to medium complexity developments, ensuring that solution design is appropriate for the application.  Will also act in a supporting role on more complex or large scale developments.

Proactively identify issues, risks, assumptions and dependencies during project phases; help formulate mitigating actions and support implementation of measures to reduce, remove or manage them.

Work across the breadth of most banking data and understand interconnectivities between, and downstream dependencies of any development and change.

Work with internal Data & MI teams to ensure each delivery is fit for purpose, and appropriate knowledge is shared with both support and delivery teams.

Undertake supporting role to CR1 change colleagues, and to CR2 peers to deliver tasks, encourage development, transfer knowledge and provide training.

Develop an in depth understanding of the needs of the business both current and future in order to assist in the delivery of their business plans.

Be viewed as an expert in the use of SAS for development and support purposes, and working towards certification.

Identify, agree, lead and implement efficiency and business improvement opportunities in assigned areas.  Ensure agreed business benefits are delivered to plan.

Participate fully in cross-functional projects or investigations ensuring requirements are delivered to plan.      

Maintain knowledge of relevant regulatory and legal requirements.  Support and promote compliance with those requirements.

Use own and Data & MI retained knowledge in existing systems, data and infrastructure to provide specialist knowledge to business and Data & MI colleagues with regards to system development opportunities.

Support the maintenance of and improvement of standards across Data & MI for all aspects of development and delivery governance, working with the management team where appropriate.
