Purpose of the role:

To support the delivery of the Bank’s risk framework, within specified area(s), to facilitate the delivery of the risk management framework, drive good customer outcomes, and discharge risk accountabilities.

 

Key Accountabilities:

*       Delivery of the risk management framework into the specified area(s) ensuring that processes and controls are in place which enable senior management to discharge their respective accountabilities.   

*       Establish, maintain and nurture key relationships with relevant senior managers across the function to support the achievement of their risk objectives

*       Ongoing management of  specified  area(s) RCSA process ensuring that it is up to date and maintained, subject to a robust testing and reporting regime; regularly assessed; tracks actions to address control issues and, ultimately, provide the relevant entity owners with sufficient evidence to support a risk and control assessment of their area 

*       Manage the components of the risk management framework to ensure effective compliance and delivery of robust risk management. Specifically: 

o   Identification of business unit issues/ risks and tracking of appropriate mitigation 

o   Risk event reporting, resolution and tracking (including complex historical issues) 

o   Management and tracking of 2nd & 3rd line actions 

*       Manage production of relevant governance packs and inputs to governance meetings as required

*       Assist in the preparation of briefing packs for senior management ahead of regulator visits/meetings, providing insight and analysis where necessary.

*       Provide input to all relevant transformation activity ensuring that all risks transferring into BAU have been identified; their impact assessed and have been appropriately considered and mitigated. Provide risk support and challenge to projects as required.

*       Provide risk support and challenge to assurance activity, including the Annual Product Review process.

*       Collaborate extensively with the 2nd & 3rd lines to ensure risk proposals are aligned to the Bank’s risk approach

Ability to deputise for Senior Risk Manager where appropriate

 

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

*       Experience in the management of risk

*       Understanding of key policies in relation to all risk themes

*       Detailed knowledge of the respective product area

*       Good verbal and written communication skills

*       Good knowledge of UK banking industry, competition, commercials and regulation activity

*       Good understanding of company strategy and objectives
