The role

 

As a Payment Operations Administrator, you’ll be supporting a wide range of customer enquiries and payment requests in a high risk environment. You will need specialist knowledge to satisfy the customer, support the achievement of business goals and work in line with all procedures and standards. If you have in-depth knowledge of payment processes, procedures and payment schemes; relating to BACS, Faster Payments, Cheque and Credit clearing and CHAPS then we’d love to hear from you!

 

Role summary

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

  • Maintain knowledge of regulatory, scheme and legal requirements relevant to the role. Support and promote compliance with those requirements within the role and the business

  • Processing of high value payments to support customer demand along with scheme daily settlement to deliver adherence to our regulatory obligations

  • Support bank wide project through change activity, to deliver the best customer outcome

  • Requirement to develop specialist skills across a range of complex process – from on boarding BACS customer facilities to liaising with overseas financial services to resolving customer enquiries

  • Support the ongoing simplification change within the bank and across all payment platforms by supporting testing for external systems as required, providing feedback on change and working to roll this out to colleagues/customers as or if required

  • Understanding of the risks and impacts relating to payment schemes and processes to understand what the impact is to our customers and the business

  • Build relationships with other banks within the UK and across the world to resolve problems as and when required

  • Work with 3rd parties to ensure settlement of the bank’s accounts are processed within SL

  • Ability to develop skills across a number of specialised areas on complex processes which includes but isn’t limited to Chaps, , Bacs and Faster Payments

  • Be able to work in a high pressure environment dealing with high volumes and values of transactions and delivering against tight regulatory SLA’s

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

 

  • In depth knowledge of payment processes, procedures and payment schemes; relating to BACS, Faster Payments, Cheque and Credit clearing and CHAPS
  • Expert knowledge of the regulatory requirements and rules that govern the function to ensure compliance is maintained
  • Strong knowledge of the UK Payments sector, competitor activity, market developments, regulatory regime and emerging market trends.
  • Well-developed networking, communication and influencing skills to manage relationships and understand key issues.
  • Ability to work within a challenging environment whilst maintaining a high quality standard of work
  • Sound knowledge of Banking regulation and legislation
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly developed telephony skills and ability to deal with difficult conversations.
  • Good problem solving skills and analytical mind
  • Strong Investigative skills
  • A team player with ability to work alone and or as part of a team
