The role:

 

As an Open Banking Lead, you’ll be responsible for the day to day operational management of the Retail and SME Open Banking services, maintaining and evolving the service, aligned to regulatory standards and guidance. You’ll be representing the Bank externally by managing day to day interactions with Open Banking Limited (the Implementation Entity) and by managing Third Party Provider (TPP) relationships in order to provide support, expertise and improve the user experience for the Bank’s customers who use the service.

 

The Open Banking Lead will provide oversight of the Bank’s interfaces, which span multiple integration points (Retail Online Banking and Mobile channels, SME Online Banking and API’s) constructing, prioritising and managing a backlog of change consisting of defect fixes, continuous improvement initiatives and minor change initiatives, across Bank software engineering teams and external partners.

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

*        Day to day management of Third Party Providers across Retail and SME services through onboarding and servicing, managing any queries raised with support from various Bank teams

*        Manage ad-hoc queries raised by FCA or the OBL, preparing responses, ensuring review and approval from internal Bank stakeholders

*        Provide subject matter expertise across internal stakeholders and external networks ensuring due consideration is given to changes which affect TPP integration and the customer experience

*        Ensure the Bank’s public facing Developer Portal is fully up-to-date with the required content and documentation to align with regulatory requirements and standards

*        Ensure effective assessment of incidents and defects across software engineering teams (application layer, Mid-tier and Integration) with action plans and owners in place to remediate priority issues

*        Build and maintain a prioritised backlog of fixes, changes and improvements, ensuring there are escalated through the various delivery teams (Scrum, Integration, Token IO, Change) and tracked through to completion

*        Track costs for all change items, ensuring these are raised with the budget owner (Head of Digital Change) to enable effective budget management

*        Monitor key performance metrics including: usage of Open Banking from a TPP and customer perspective, journey performance and complaint drivers to highlight any issues or opportunities to improve the user experience ensuring plans are in place to address

*        Coordinate audits/attestations and own any resulting actions through to completion

*        Work with internal and external stakeholders to maintain and improve business processes to ensure an effective and efficient operating model is in place to run the service

*        Ensure controls are operating effectively, aligned to the Bank’s RCSA framework

*        Maintain a good understanding of risk and control requirements relevant to the role, ensuring compliance and that due regard is paid to the interests of customers and TPP’s

*        Oversee the collation, preparation and submission of regulatory reports, ensuring these are assured and meet requirements

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

 

*        Understanding Open Banking journeys across Retail and SME with an ability to analyse data to identify incidents and issues

*        Customer service focused and driven by delivering an optimum customer experience

*        Strong stakeholder management still across internal and external networks

*        Ability to manage the day to day interactions with regulatory bodies

*        Ability to understand regulatory requirements and outcomes and assess and apply these across Retail and SME Open Banking touchpoints

*        Strong collaboration skills with an ability to lead others and deliver through direct and virtual teams and stakeholder networks

*        Outstanding communication, presentation and leadership skills

*        Excellent organisational and time management skills

*        Significant experience in leading change in a regulated environment

*        Understanding of Risk management within financial services

 

Desirable

*        Working within a regulated environment

*        Degree qualification or equivalent

 

Technical Capabilities:

 

*        Experience of using a content management system.

*        Strong understanding of the PSD2 RTS and OBL standards with the ability to translate and apply to the Bank’s solution

*        An understanding of current and emerging Open Banking trends and regulatory changes

*        Strong analytical capability with an ability to understand trends and themes
