The role:

 

As Head of People Services you be leading the creation of data-driven, customer centric People Services team acting as the first point of contact for colleagues across the Bank ensuring effective and timely administration of the Bank’s payroll process, pre-employment screening, HR Support, People data, MI and insight activity.  You’ll be responsible for ensuring a first class customer service approach is taken, driving continuous improvement of all transactional activity within the people function reducing friction and maximising self-service opportunities.

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

  • Deliver monthly payroll cycle ensuring end to end activities are completed on time
  • Defines, implements and embeds clear Service Level Agreements within the People Function and tracks and monitors adherence to these
  • Say abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies and best practice in People services to drive continuous improvement and innovation within the People function
  • Review the employee lifecycle and touchpoints in the People Function to streamline and improve processes for colleagues
  • Establish key performance indicators, metrics and data insights to enable leaders to develop strategies to optimise their team / functional people potential.
  • Delivers pre-employment screening services for the Bank to ensure adherence to regulatory and risk standards
  • Co-creates and collaborates with People Centres of Excellence to deliver seamless customer service to colleagues
  • Champions the customer (colleagues) in all People Services activities, ensuing the customer is at the heart of all services provided
  • Drives the digitisation of People activities across the Bank
  • Lead and mentor a high performing team

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

 

  • Keep up to date with payroll and HMRC compliance
  • Demonstrable experience of managing the end to end payroll across a large scale colleague base (2000+) both in-house and with an outsourced provider.
  • Numerical and financially astute – experience in running reconciliations, budgeting processes, Year-End processes including monthly and ad-hoc reporting
  • Experienced at liaising with HMRC and  Pension scheme providers
  • Expert knowledge of statutory payroll elements (SPS, SMP, Statutory Leave)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data insights into actionable strategies and recommendations
  • Demonstrable experience in process improvement and streamlining
  • Experience in leading and managing teams in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Proficiency in HR and Payroll software (CORE HR/People XD)  and analytical and reporting tools including MS Excel
  • Strategic thinker with results driven mind-set and passion for driving growth and innovation
  • Strong leadership capabilities with a focus on fostering talent development and building high performing teams
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and navigate ambiguity in a rapidly evolving business landscape
  • Proven track record in  planning, forecasting and financial interpretation skills 
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communications and influencing skills evidenced through a number of techniques.
  • Sound knowledge of appropriate legal and regulatory framework
  • Expert in all aspects of payroll
