Partnering with functional and business leaders across the Bank, working on complex ER cases, leading key projects to drive future improvements, providing specialist advice and guidance to reduce people risk and drive commercially appropriate solutions to people related issues. We are looking for candidates with a broad, generalist understanding of HR processes and activities linked to the employee lifecycle, and experience in managing complex ER cases. Ideally you would be CIPD qualified or have equivalent experience from previous roles.

 

Key Accountabilities: 

  •  Input to the development of the Directorate’s people plans aligned to the Bank priorities and support the Senior BP and leaders in the implementation and delivery of this.
  • Co-create and develop pragmatic and commercially appropriate solutions to people issues, collaborating with the People Centres of Excellence (COE) across a variety of activity streams including Employee Relations, Talent & Succession, Resource, Organisational Change, Reward and Development.
  • Regularly assess key people metrics (absence, attrition, development, including & diversity) to identify potential issues and make recommendations using centres of excellence where appropriate to implement solutions to mitigate.
  • Partner with leaders providing best practice and pragmatic support in handling complex employee relation (ER) matters (including but not limited to investigations, performance management, absence management, grievances, disciplinary, and appeals).
  • Lead the discussions on early conciliation and employment tribunals with support from the Senior BP where required.
  • Improve ER capability amongst leaders partnering through training, coaching, partnerships and development of tools and processes.
  • Coach and influence leaders to identify and respond to people issues and opportunities in order to minimise formal ER cases, maximise the effectiveness of their people and to facilitate delivery of operational business plans
  • Support leaders in identifying their people risks, and support the development of appropriate plans to mitigate these.
  • Build trust with the leaders across the Bank to become a true partner.
  • Support change programmes and collective issues being the point of contact for the business from the People Function on these matters
  • Provide input and oversight on organisation design and cultural development, working with COE’s to ensure the business is able to quickly adapt to the changing environment.
  • Ensure leaders have robust talent / succession plans including appropriate development plans in place for high potential colleagues.
  • Influence leaders to foster a high performance culture as a means of driving business improvement by ensuring clear objectives, feedback and moderation.
  • Ensure business areas have appropriate capability to meet current and future demand, ensure appropriate reward and retention strategies are in place engaging with COE’s for expertise
  • Be an ambassador for the Bank and the People Function interacting with leaders in a professional, values led way and ensuring excellent customer service to the business.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

  •  Broad, generalist understanding of all HR processes and activities linked to the employee lifecycle
  • Demonstrable experience in managing complex ER cases up to Employment Tribunal resolution
  • Experienced in handling difficult conversations, navigating complexities and disagreements whilst maintaining neutral
  • Expert employment law knowledge and continuous professional development to maintain this
  • Approachable, respected and responsive – able to connect with colleagues at all levels
  • Strong customer service focus
  • Supportive team player with strong drive to create a positive work environment
  • Solution-focussed and commercially aware – able to make independent decisions, managing conflicting priorities in a fast paced environment
  • Mentoring, Coaching or mediation experience desirable
  • Applies solid judgment ensuring integrity, compliance and confidentiality
  • Detail-oriented with succinct written and verbal communication skills
