Cyber Security Cryptographic Engineer

35 hours per week 12 month secondment

We promote a hybrid working environment, which means you will work at our office in Manchester roughly once a week and then remotely from home. To enable you to work from home, you will need have a suitable office set up which includes a desk and a chair in a location which is free from the interruptions of day-to-day life.

 

The role:

 

The role of the Cyber Security Cryptographic Engineer is to enable the delivery of central, standard, effective and efficient management of cryptographic keys and digital certificates for The Co-operative Bank and to implement and maintain the underlying technology and processes to ensure legal/regulatory requirements and industry standards are met. Compliance with the relevant industry standards must also be demonstrated in accordance with requirements. You will ensure the integrity and availability of cryptographic and key management services to business functions and applications. Maintain accurate environment documentation, process and device categorisation as well as providing ongoing assurance that risk and compliance requirements are being conducted to a satisfactory level and are evidenced to a required level.

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

*       Deliver effective cryptographic management to generate, distribute, store, renew, recover and delete cryptographic keys and digital certificates in accordance with defined procedures and to meet service, risk and governance requirements in alignment with industry standard rigour and control.

*       Define, develop and deliver suitable processes and procedures to provide effective and efficient management of cryptographic keys and digital certificates throughout The Co-operative Bank in line with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

*       Implement and maintain the operational functionality of the underlying cryptographic infrastructure (HSMs etc) to required standards and deadlines.

*       Responsibility for the safe keeping and operation of the key component material.

*       Contribute to the development of technical strategy and governance processes to support delivery of projects to enable core cryptographic technologies in the organisation.

*       Continually review, develop and enhance the cryptographic management processes and procedures to sustain a high quality certificate and key management function for The Co-operative Bank.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

 

*       Detailed knowledge and experience of some of the following:

*         PKI (Entrust, Microsoft).

*         HSMs (Thales, Safenet, nCipher).

*         Payment schemes (Faster Payments, BACS, SWIFT).

*         Symmetric and Asymmetric Algorithms.

*         Windows Server, IIS, Apache, OpenSSL, Wireshark.

*         UNIX, Solaris, RACF.

*         Directory services.

*         Key management ceremonies.

*         Maintenance of cryptographic infrastructure including building and configuring devices, patch management and incident resolution.

*         Lifecycle of cryptographic keys and certificates plus management, standards and discovery.

*         Cyber security and threat management.
