I’m heavily involved in our LGBT network – Proud Together. I handle communications, work with marketing, offer confidential advice and even organise things like LGBT-themed film nights and socials that are open to everyone. I helped support the World AIDS Day vigil and our entry in the Manchester Pride parade too – from sorting out funding and collateral, to boosting our social media activity and walking in the actual parade. The theme was ‘Class of 2017’, so we got t-shirts made, and weekend tickets for the friends and family who joined us. The atmosphere was brilliant.
It’s a very open, welcoming environment. You’re allowed to be yourself. I can be Chris. ‘Ethics and values’ are talked about a lot by businesses. But do they demonstrate it? At The Co‑operative Bank, we do, through the charities we support, our campaigns, our community work. We don’t pay lip service.
