HMT Women in Finance
In 2016 we were proud to be one of the first signatories to the government’s Women in Finance Charter, setting a target of 40% women in senior roles by 2020. This year in support of that aim we have:
- Worked with our women’s career network, Elevate, to design and run a career confidence programme with a focus on business acumen, personal brand and mentoring
- Celebrated International Women’s Day, arranged for women in senior roles to share their experiences with colleagues across our Bank, and organised LinkedIn workshops to help develop personal brand
- Organised parental workshops for colleagues going on and returning from maternity, shared parental and adoption leave, to support colleagues and leaders during this transition period
- Celebrated our Chief Operations Director, Heather Lauder, who was nominated for Banker of the Year at the Women in Finance Awards - the awards celebrate the individuals and organisations leading change, breaking down barriers and creating new possibilities for equal representation in the world of finance
Research suggests low confidence and self–belief can negatively impact women succeeding in the workplace. So our women’s career network, Elevate, have tailored their efforts to drive positive change and pro-actively support members to overcome personal barriers that prevent them from progressing in their careers.
