Internal Audit Leadership graduate programme
We provide assurance and consultancy over governance and risk – two critical areas for any bank. Put simply, we assess the nuts and bolts of every part of our business, looking at the risks and working out what we’re doing well and how we can do things better. Staying one step ahead of an ever-changing regulatory landscape, we constantly challenge ourselves to do the right thing to safeguard our customers and investors.
A leadership role in audit
Audit is a fascinating world. What you do will be of strategic importance and you’ll quickly see the impact you make, as you help us to meet our business goals. You’ll play a key role in internal audits across different business areas. You’ll gain the confidence you need to lead projects. And you’ll work with our Finance, Treasury and Risk teams to ensure the operational integrity of everything we do. On a series of rotations, you’ll learn how we:
- Test internal controls
- Manage an internal audit
- Engage with external auditors and regulators
- Evaluate, report and resolve risk issues
- Partner with different business teams to make sure our risk management framework is always front of mind
We’ll prepare you to become a leader of the future through a variety of training courses and learning opportunities. You’ll be supported every step of the way by a mentor. And your personal development plan will build on your strengths and develop your skills as you work towards an Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) qualification.
Are you made of the right stuff?
Talented, ambitious and naturally curious, you must have the desire to delve into the detail, learn all about audit and quickly get up-to-speed with our business processes, risks and controls. Someone who can clearly communicate new insights and your findings, you won’t be afraid to challenge to uphold our ethics, integrity and the way we do business within a constantly changing regulatory framework.
If you can also influence and build strong working relationships with a diverse range of people – get ready to take your career places in a fast-paced retail banking environment.
I spent my first six months in internal audit which touches every part of our business. It’s not something you can dive straight into. So I had a 2-week induction, shadowing colleagues and getting to grips with things. I then got more hands-on and was proud to play my part in two big transformation projects
