The people here have been absolutely amazing. For me, you always hear The Co-operative Bank prides itself on its values and ethics, and for me you can really see that embedded in to the culture here. People always make time for you and it’s something that I will really miss leaving here, and would love to come back mainly for that reason.

Risk management is integral to the Bank’s future success. During my internship I have worked on a project to embed risk management culture within the Bank at all levels. Here I was involved in creating presentations and other teaching aids so that the importance of Risk management and the new processes can be effectively explained to colleagues across the Bank.
The Co-op Bank stood out because of its reputation for being an ethical bank. I saw the internship programme as a brilliant opportunity to gain experience working in a finance department and the good reputation of the Bank was definitely a strong selling point. I was properly integrated into the Finance team and enjoyed working with them on their projects.
It has been an amazing and invaluable experience where I have had the opportunity to interact with a variety of people across the business and increase my skill set which will definitely help me in my long term career. I have gained a good insight into the bank and in particular the Internal Audit department where I have been based. One of my highlights was shadowing a meeting with the CEO, where I got to learn a lot about him, his journey to where he is today and the key skills you need to get to a high point within your career.
